Look, being a fan of Irish folk rock makes you a very patient person when it comes to waiting for new releases. I waited for ten years (IN AZKABAN!) for Damien Rice’s latest record, and Glen Hansard also likes to take his sweet time with new releases. So you can imagine my surprise when I logged on Facebook this morning and saw that there was going to be a brand new EP just months after his new album release.
Along with the announcement we got a first listen of the track that Didn’t He Ramble is supposedly named from, which I already heard live during his last tour but oh man you guys this song.
Along with “Didn’t He Ramble,” we also get “Way Back in the Way Back When” which might be one of my favorite songs I’ve ever heard his band play live. (Also, Glen, thank you for featuring your horns section so strongly. I love these guys.)
The EP is due out on February 17, and will also include “A Season On The Line,” “Let Me In,” and “Return.”
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go loop this track for a couple of hours now that I have a recording of it.
