I’m so, so, so excited to hear a new track from Lisa Hannigan, and this one is an absolute dream. Take a dive into the first listen from her forthcoming record below!
“Prayer For The Dying” is certainly a different sound than we heard on her previous album, Passenger, although it is absolutely not unwelcome. Lisa reels us back in with her familiar tones, oceanic melodies, and a slow rolling sound that is a welcome comfort for those of us who grew up watching waves roll on to the shore. It is a track that works in every way, and is a clear growth from her previous works that were already unspeakably beautiful in their own way.
The new record, At Swim, is set to contain 11 tracks, many of which have equally seaworthy names, such as “Undertow” and “We, The Drowned,” which also falls in line with the already morbid sounding “Funeral Suit,” which I imagine will be nice symmetry with “Prayer For The Dying.” It is due to release on August 19 of this year.
You can preorder the album on iTunes, or download “Prayer For The Dying” now.
