Luckily this week has been worlds better than last week, and while surgery recovery still sucks it’s been nice to get back to normal life again. Most importantly, it’s been nice to get to October and finally put September behind me Not just because of how much September sucked (I don’t even normally say that kind of thing, I’m an optimist and all, but September sucked) but also because fall is now in FULL SWING and EVERYTHING IS SPOOKY.

Look, I need to tell you, I am all aboard the Halloween hype train. The leaves are CHANGING and there are PUMPKINS everywhere and I’m just all in. Growing up at the beach I always kind of wanted to get the full Autumn experience; I remember plenty of years when it just felt too hot to go trick-or-treating, and you didn’t really get the full effect of fall so much as you got rain until it was suddenly Thanksgiving.

Anyway, fall in the midwest is beautiful, and it’s become my favorite time of year.

This year I was hoping we could decorate the house some since we seem to be the only ones in our neighborhood who don’t have orange lights and spooky things up immediately when the clock hits midnight on October 1, but we’ll see if we actually end up doing so. I did pick up a pumpkin at the store today and was really excited about how huge it was for the price, and then we got it home and… man. It looks so pitiful.

Anyway, what I’m saying is, our Halloween decorating game could use some work.

Even so, I recently started decorating my planner (something I hope to write about pretty soon) and that’s gotten me in to Michael’s a lot more to check out all the Halloween crafty stuff they have and OMG you guys. I’m telling you. Full on Halloween Hype Train.

Look at this!!! Look at this next week in my planner!!!

Not pictured: all the shit I have to do this week that I hadn’t filled in yet.

It’s taken some serious self control not to get every single crafty thing for Halloween that they have out there, if I can be honest. I started collecting everything awhile ago so that I could use it once October rolled around, and there’s just so much cool stuff out there; they have spooky and autumn-y everything, and we’ve gotten stamps (pictured at the top of this post, they’re SO CUTE) and stickers and adorable spooky paper and everything. It’s also been nice to have some things to do on the days I’ve been stuck in bed, which has been great.

Hopefully the rest of the month will continue to be as awesome as October is already shaping up to be; we’re definitely going to try to get some more pumpkins to accompany our one lonely one by the door, we’ve got plans to go to the apple orchard, explore a corn maze, and of course watching lots of football.

And, you know, maybe seeing if we can somehow acquire a bajillion skeletons to put in the yard.

If you’re all hyped up for fall and for Halloween, I’d love to know what you’re up to in the comments and if you have any great fall plans, costumes, or crafts! I’ve also already got the hype train rolling with an autumn music playlist and some of my fall fashion favorites too if you’d like to check them out!

Here’s to an awesome October and a fantastic fall! ❤️🎃🍁
