So, let’s see. Where were we?
Oh, right. May. It’s May! Time for that great Justin Timberlake meme a few
days weeks too late!
Sorry, had to. You know how it goes.
This month has been so busy I could scream, from my husband and I’s first anniversary to finishing my third semester of school to oh right I am leaving the country in 25 days all of the sudden where has the time gone? Have we talked about that? I’m sure we’ve talked about that, but it’s starting to get really real, fam. I started planning this trip back in December or so, and now I’m leaving in less than a month. And after that point I’m going to be spending two months in another country. Alone.
Well, not entirely alone. I’ll have friends, an internship, and for the first week of the trip my two partners in crime will be joining me for a week of hitting up Romanian tourist spots, but I’ll still be kind of alone after that. It is wild to think how far I’ve come since deciding I was going to make a trip to Romania happen, though, and I am just so, so thrilled I get to do this again for even longer. Bucharest felt like a second home during the time I was there, and I hope that is somewhat the same when I return.
Speaking of, two matters of housekeeping:
1. I decided, perhaps against my better judgement, to set up a secondary travel blog to document my adventures in Romania and anywhere else I might go. I’ll still be blogging over here, but I wanted a chance to have a dedicated place to talk about travel and Romania in particular where I could link people who wanted to hear about that specific thing. I had a lot of luck with Headphone Couture (even if I have been bad at updating thanks to school. Though hopefully I’ll remedy that this week…) so I wanted to try my hand at another “specialty” blog. Anyway, you can find it at http://postcardsandpapanasi.com and I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
2. International travel is, as it turns out, very expensive even when you’re going for a school thing (okay, especially when you’re going on a school thing) so I decided to set up a GoFundMe! I kind of hate these, because everyone has one, but I also have a lot of expenses to deal with and don’t get any kind of financial aid from school until after I’ll already be in Romania and I still have to pay for part of my housing, prescriptions, and a few other miscellaneous things. So, if you find yourself feeling generous or if you have $5 to spare, you can chip in at https://gofundme.com/mandagoestoromania.
So that’s that! Very simple, very exciting. I’m actually really thrilled about starting another blog, I guess for me blogging is kind of like buying a new notebook: you get all these blank pages you have to fill and it’s super exciting. (And then eventually it ends up under your bed and you forget about it but look just work with me here come on.) I also feel like having a dedicated space frees me up to talk about whatever I want here… and, you know, I’m still very much going to be talking about my daily life in Romania, are you kidding?
I mean, so long as I remember to post.
I am a human work in progress. It’s fine. We’ll get there.
Twenty-five days is not a lot of time, but I have a lot of living my life I have to do between now and then, besides all of the mess with travel. I’m meeting up with friends on Wednesday, having a garage sale this weekend, going to see at least two movies, going to a wedding for people I completely do not know, getting my hair cut and dyed… I’m probably forgetting something, but the point is holy shit I have so much to do?! And that’s all on top of freelance work and getting ready for the Summer semester of classes and oh, right, yes. The travel thing.
But you know what? It’s fine. This is fine.
I live for being busy.
If anyone has a time turner for sale, though, hit me up.
