A Pair of Pies

It’s been awhile since I’ve baked anything, but tonight’s adventure worked out pretty well so I figured I’d share it with you all. I love reading food blogs and keeping up with what other people are baking, so it’s about time I shared some of my tasty treats!

Tonight I cracked open the CafĂ© Atlantic cookbook I got my mom for mother’s day and set off to one of my favorite desserts, Lemon Buttermilk Pie. Unfortunately the recipe called for two pies, so I’m going to have to figure out where to pass out a few pieces, but I think they turned out pretty well!

The recipe was fairly simple, mixing a few basic ingredients (flour, sugar, etc.) and then adding the liquid parts. Grating and juicing the lemon was a fun excursion (I do not own any kind of juicer) but once I got the hang of the grating it went by pretty quick. I did everything by hand instead of using a mixer, too, which made it take a little longer but I’m still pleased with the end result. Most of my other baking is done by hand (I didn’t have a mixer at the apartment.) so it wasn’t an unfamiliar task.

I’m waiting for them to cool now so they can be wrapped and placed in the refrigerator – although I may have to test a slice first before I put them away! :)

Have you baked anything lately?

  1. YES! I’m baking tomorrow! For a bake sale, but that counts, right?

Gina and I are doing it for the school. We’re going to be making cookies, cupcakes and brownies.
